Crock Pot Oatmeal
A hearty, delicious and fun family breakfast.
Prep Time 10 minutes mins
- 4 cups milk of your choice
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups old fashioned oats (not quick cooking oats)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
- Topping Options: nuts, chocolate chips, coconut, sprinkles, fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa etc.
- non-stick cooking spray
Spray the inside of the crock pot with non-stick cooking spray
Add the milk and water to the crock pot. You can adjust the ratio of water/milk; however, I recommend that you keep the total liquid to oats ratio as 3:1.
Add in the oats, maple syrup, vanilla and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
Cook on low for 2-2 1/2 hours or on high for 45 minutes to an hour. You can add more milk to the oatmeal as it cooks if you would like a softer consistency or you find that it's cooking faster.
Get creative with your toppings bar while the oatmeal finishes!
- Assemble the dry ingredients the night before and then just add in your liquids to cook once you wake up in the morning.
- Throw this together a little before school ends for a fun after school, before practice snack.
- Toss this in a thermos for food on-the-go!
