Favorite Gluten Free Winter Recipes

Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance, and shortly after, my husband was diagnosed with celiac disease. I remember sitting on the couch in tears. How are we going to manage this?

We didn’t have the plethora of options at the store like we do today, so we took our favorite go-to recipes and substituted ingredients to make them gluten-free. Over the years, we have created a list of our go-to’s that everyone in our household enjoys.

Favorite Gluten Free Winter RecipesHere are some of our family’s favorite gluten free winter recipes:

Baked Crack Chicken

This recipe can be done in a slow cooker, instant pot, or baked. You can make it over pasta or rice. To mix it up a bit, sometimes we add broccoli or spinach to it.

Homemade Alfredo Sauce

I loved ordering alfredo when we would go out to eat, but many places didn’t offer gluten-free pasta as an option. So we tried making it on our own one night and never looked back. This recipe can also be adapted to make it dairy-free. Add kale, spinach, or broccoli to make it a healthier option.

Butternut Squash Spinach Sausage Bake

I have never been a butternut squash fan. It seemed very intimidating to bake, but I got over that fear this fall. It has now become a staple in our house. Adapting this recipe with one quick switch makes it gluten-free. All you have to do is substitute it with gluten-free pasta or even quinoa.

Homemade Bone Broth

We have been making bone broth for the last couple of months instead of purchasing it. We buy a whole chicken or a few rotisserie chickens each week. This way, we get at least two meals out of one purchase. We use the chicken for Baked Crack Chicken recipe (above) and then use the bone broth to help make sauces or soups later in the week.

Don’t be intimidated by cooking or baking gluten-free! Meal planning, keeping it simple, and couponing are key to keeping the cost down, but the glory is many of your favorite recipes can easily be adapted to make them gluten-friendly.
