A Day Out in West Acton, MA

0

If you’re like me, there’s days you want to get out of the house, but without too much fuss or too much travel. For days like that, spending a day out in West Acton is one of my favorite destinations. There’s something for everyone!

Villageworks

If you’re traveling by car, park on Massachusetts Avenue or in the lots behind West Acton Villageworks. Here, you’ll find a whole bunch of businesses with a lot to offer. If you feel the need to move, take a yoga class at Revolution Community Yoga or a barre class at Modern Barre. If you’re hungry, check out True West Brewery or Twin Seafood for a meal. For dessert, there’s West Side Creamery.

Gardner Park

It’s not the biggest playground, but it’s conveniently located directly across the street from the Acton Coffee House, perfect for sleep-deprived parents looking for a pick-me-up or pregnant mamas who need a bathroom close by at all times. Other highlights include an open field for kiddos who like some space, a Tiny Free Library, and a climbing structure shaped like a fire truck.

Silver Unicorn Bookstore

Just a few minutes walk will bring you to The Silver Unicorn Bookstore. This is the perfect spot to treat yourself or a loved one to a new book. It’s a locally owned, independent bookstore that caters to a local audience while also carrying all the best sellers. There’s also a kids area for the little ones, complete with a kid-sized doorway!

The Bee’s Knees British Imports

I haven’t made it here yet, but as a lover of British chocolate, I can’t wait to go! In addition to sweet treats, they offer other imported British gifts like tea sets, mugs, and stationery.

Idylwilde Farms

On your way out of town, stop by the farm stand at Idylwilde Farms. They feature produce grown on site and at other local farms. The store also has fresh baked goods, other groceries, and seasonal treats and decorations.
